Caring For Your Jewelry
Caring for Your Jewelry
Your jewelry is meant to live life with you.
The pieces created by Lovely Dahy are designed to be worn, loved, and carried through everyday moments and extraordinary ones alike. Over time, you may notice small changes—soft scratches, subtle marks, or natural tarnishing. Rather than imperfections, these are simply signs of a life well lived.
Each piece becomes a quiet record of the places you’ve gone and the moments you’ve stepped into. Jewelry, like the stories that inspire it, evolves over time.
Because many Lovely Dahy pieces are made from raw, uncoated metals, they are free to interact with the world around them. These materials are intentionally left in their natural state so they can develop character as they age.
Below are a few simple ways to care for your jewelry while allowing it to age beautifully.
Sterling Silver
Sterling silver naturally reacts to air and moisture, which may cause it to darken over time. One of the best ways to keep silver bright is simply to wear it—the natural oils from your skin help maintain its shine.
If you plan to store your jewelry for a while, keep it in an airtight bag or container to slow tarnishing. When needed, a silver polishing cloth can easily restore its glow.
Bronze
Bronze contains a high level of copper, which means it will naturally deepen in color as it interacts with air and moisture. Some wearers may occasionally notice a faint green tint on the skin. This is completely harmless and temporary—it’s simply the natural reaction of copper, similar to the patina seen on historic bronze sculptures.
To slow the aging of bronze:
• Avoid prolonged exposure to water
• Dry thoroughly if the piece becomes wet
• Store in a sealed bag when not wearing
If you’d like to restore its shine, a polishing cloth works beautifully. For deeper cleaning, a small amount of metal polish can bring the surface back to life.
Wire Wrapped Jewelry Care
Each piece is thoughtfully wire wrapped by hand, creating a delicate yet durable design. While crafted with care, wire jewelry should still be handled and stored gently to maintain its shape and structure over time.
To keep your piece in its best condition, store crowns and arm bands in their original packaging or in a space where minimal pressure is applied. Earrings and necklaces are best stored individually, as their intricate designs can easily tangle with other pieces.
If your jewelry ever needs a repair or adjustment, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I’m always happy to help keep your piece as beautiful as the day you received it.
A Final Note:
We encourage you to let your jewelry age alongside you.
The subtle marks, softened edges, and evolving tones become part of the piece’s story—one that belongs entirely to you. Over time, your jewelry becomes less like something you own and more like something that has traveled with you.
Personal. Lived in. Loved.
